Let me know what you think of the new RP-5 preamp!

Any idea when the new Cronus Magnum will be available? And if it has the same footprint as the current version?Has anyone tried Line Magnetic cd players with Rogue gear?
thanks-

If you have a rogue dealer, isn't that a problem and shouldn't you be looking for another dealer who isn't a rogue? ;-)
I am in a transition at the moment.
Good to read/hear about you guys enjoying this brand of gear!
It was connected to the matching ST-100 power amp (which is the best $3500 amp I've ever heard) but I forgot which small two-ways were in the room. I only really listened to the headphone stage of the RP-5 and it was really great with both my Grado 325i and the PSB M4u2 powered headphones. If I was in the market for a preamp this would be the first I'd take home for an extended audition.
I wonder if it a tube preamp or, only the headphone amp is tube based. Seems odd they would mention the headphone amp specifically.

I hear there's a new Rogue Cronus Magnum II on the horizon. ;-) Some improvements here and there but probably not enough reason to dump the existing model unless one has to own the latest.P.S. Just sold the ARC VSi-60 on Audiogon. It's gon.

Interesting. I asked Mark about a premium integrated and he said it would be a few years. Wonder what he's doing with the Cronus Mag.
The gear from Rogue is already premium. Get out there and judge for yourself.
I own a Cronus Magnum, modded by Rogue with Mundorf Evo Silver/Gold/Oil caps, and upgraded by me with Synergistic "Red" fuses and NOS signal tubes. It is exceptional for anything near the price but I can envision a significantly better integrated amp with different features and parts. And yes, I've heard the Hera pre-amp, and Zeus, and Apollo mono-blocks and they are superb.

I agree. Love mine, it is a premium amp.
Interested in finding out what a version 2 might be tho. If it is worthwhile, hopefully there will be an upgrade option for current owners,
My understanding of the Cronus Magnum II:
- Improved phono with 6dB more gain
- Mute button on hand held remote
- Improved headphone amp
- Lower noise floor
- Buffered variable outputs
MSRP $2495. Not sure if the cosmetics change at all. If you're in the market for a new one, or have to own the latest greatest, maybe it's time to sell your old one. On the other hand, I don't use the phono, headphone amp, or variable outputs and my 'noise floor' seems fine. A mute on the remote would be nice but I think I'll just keep what I have.
Abe-
I might add that Rega cd players are a nice compliment and sonic match for Rogue Audio gear.
What other (brand) of spinners are you guys using in your systems?
My computer based audio does not 'spin' ;-)
For Computer Audio:
Samsung 840 Pro SSD
SanDisk Ultra II SSD
Intel 520 Series SSD
But I still own my old Accuphase DP-65v. No longer have the Denon or Sony.
Fantja I notice you don't have a system maintained in your profile. What cd spinners or other equipment are you using?
Agreed. Given my experience with the phono stage I don't think gain is the issue. I just don't think it's as good as many modestly priced external phono stages. Muting on the remote is nice but not a big deal for me. Nothing on that list would cause me to buy the Magnum II, but maybe current Magnum owners aren't Mark's target market. In any event I wish him the best. Rogue is an outstanding company.
Nice move -Abe. The Rogue gear trumps the ARC integrated gear, at half the cost!
Abe, any details on a Cronus Magnum II?
How about an Atlas Magnum II????

At least that's what the sign says. It's a shame, because he's still looking for it and will be disappointed.
Sorry. I'd like to hear it some day. Never owned anything from Rogue and here nothing but good things about their equipment.
