Would do you think about this amp? I have heard comments to the effect that Naim's have somewhat of a tube sound?
Follow Ups:
Robert Harley in The Absolute Sound says, “The Nait is more than a really good amp: it does something akin to finding the holy grail of amplification, and it does this while imposing relatively modest tradeoffs on the listener. … The Nait 5i resolves the tube vs. transistor dilemma in way that doesn't feel like a careful balancing act, but feels like an improvement on the limits of both camps.… The Nait…just lets the music through.”I know it does not exactly say they have a tube sound, but it does give me the impression when it says "tube vs. transistor dilemma"
I was wrong to say it sounded like tube, but it most likely has to be one or the other.

My experience with Naim has never remotely reminded me of tubes. But that was several years ago. At that time, I picked Exposure over Naim. I thought it had much less of a solid state signature.
If you are looking for a tubey sounding SS amp then Naim is not the place to start your search. Their amps have nmany virtues but resembling a valve one isn't amongst them.
I owned this amplifier for a while. I liked it, in an all-Naim system (Allae speakers). Any 'warmth' or fullness in the sound I would tend to identify with the amp/speaker/room interface, not with whether the amplifier uses tubes or solid state.
FWIW, I've never heard anybody say Naims have a 'tubey' sound.
However, the 5i-2 to my ears is not an 'analytical' sounding amplifier either, but like I said, it depends on the rest of the system too.
