Hi guys. Been awhile. Am looking for an pure analog surround preamp(No DACs)to replace my McIntosh MSD4. I have checked out the reviews on the Parasound Halo P7 and the Macormack Map-1. I would like to bypass all the hype and find out what you Asylum folks think. If you want to reference the rest of my gear go to "Unclewatts hi-fi" in the Inmates Systems section of the asylum. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I particularly liked the Bel Canto Pre6 and the Audio Research MP1. Still use the latter.
The MAP1 is a nice unit and can be had reasonably
Check out the Parasound P7.
It might fill the bill. I don't think it has any internal processing?
Too much is never enough
As well as the Map1, I thought the Mac C45, CJ CT5, and Audio Refinement Pre5 were good 5.1 analogue preamps.
You still need the DD or DTS DAC in your optical playback machine. Best I heard was the old CJ Met 1
