When you describe 'volume control range', that is the issue I had when I used a Wright pre-amp that has 12db gain with a Yamaha AX570 100wpc, because of the 12db gain and sensitivity of the Yamaha my volume control was below 9:00 o'clock from normal listening.
My room is about 12x15 and my speakers are about 96db efficient. The seller lives about 25 miles from me and I know the dealer he bought the gear from, so..... I can get it for the right price it would be worth a try, but the Rega is hard to find specs on. I know it is 60 wpc.
The advantage of the Rogue Sphinx that I am considering is;
1)There is a dealer near me, so I would have a trial period
2) It has a tube pre-amp section
3) good reviews recentlyBob

too loud at 8:30, and couldn't find a sweet spot in volume, very big sound , wanted a big room.
Also had hum, and a cheater plug didn't have any effect.
I have a Roth Music Cocoon , 13 tube watts, smaller, more room-appropriate sound, but lacking the detail of the Sphinx.
I'm going to try a Marantz with Volume trim for the 13/15 room.
If that's too much, I'm staying with the Roth.
Thanks for the reply. At least I can demo the Sphinx with a trial period.
Ideally 20-50wpc tube integrated would be good I think. I thought about Prima Luna but that's more money. The hunt goes on....

Thanks, I read the review. If I get it for a good price fine, otherwise probably wait for something tubed, preferably integrtaed 20-50 wpc. The Rogue Sphinx is the top contender and reasonably priced new.

for me it wasn't good for small room.
That is the question with the Sphinx, I would need to try it. But I have another idea I am checking out, using my Yamaha AX570's main amp section and going with Decware tube buffer stage.
Since you're using efficient speakers I'd encourage you to try a Trends TA10 (version 10.1 or 10.2). I'm using one with my Klipsch LaScalas since today, and I'm completely in love. Don't let the tiny power output and super cheap price fool you: provided you have efficient speakers, that little thing is absolutely amazing, and i've had many good amps of various technologies since I bought those speakers 15 years ago!True my LaScalas are 104dB efficient but even at 96dB you should be safe if your ideal of good sound is not AC/DC at deafening sound levels.
Really, try it before you spend more money. You have the right speakers for it. check the 6moons review! check my little review here in the asylum too. I'm still shaking in disbelief.
PS true there's only one input. i'm using mine as a power amp, driven by an active preamp, works great and I keep all the flexibility I was used to have.
