Well today while picking up some gear at Rogue Audio, Mark showed me the finished product of their new Pre amp. I had briefly listened to it when I dropped off my Ares to get modified but it had no faceplate. Here is what I think is an un-official release from rogues site. http://www.rogueaudio.com/New.htm

Thanks! for sharing.
All I had done was change some resisters to replace the 300Ohm loading with a 700 in the mid gain input. I wasn't 100% satisfied with 1K or 300 for my Helikon. I already hat the SUT upgraded to the 1131 Equivalents (cinemag1254) .
What did you get modded on the Ares? Kinda miss mine (used w/ 1131), but Rogue wasn't too hot on offering me mod options when I asked last year, and ended up going back to a modded Sonic Frontiers. With the right mods I bet it's killer. The new pre looks nice, but also looks like it's trying to be a lot of things to a lot of people. I haven't heard a good headphone out from them yet; it's really hard to do this right, and I have a very high standard (prefer Stax anyways). Wonder if the line section is 12AU7/12AX7, 6SN7, or 6H30, or even tubed at all. Absolutely love my Hera II, and it looks like they're not superseding that -- yet, at least.

Four 12AU7s according to the info on the page. The headphone amp uses the tubes so it should sound better than their previous op-amp based units but I agree that it really is extraneous to a line stage. And the phono stage should be an extra cost option. They're reducing their market by charging for things that many people won't want.
Don't think I'll be selling my SP17, but if I were in the market for a PRE this would be at the top of my list.
