I agree. I haven't had any issues with my Cary gear over the years.
I did speak with Dennis Had a couple times about voicing a pair of low power 45 mono amps. He sent me a couple resistors to solder in parallel with a couple existing resistors in the amps. I have no idea what he had me do but it tightened up the bass slightly.
This was back in the day when Dennis immersed himself in the pursuit of audio perfection more than running the business. From what I gather, his partner took care of the business end of things and Dennis played with the electronics.
Now that Dennis has been retired from Cary for a number of years, I wonder who's been handling product development and design. Aside from the new DACs and one entry-model tube preamp, I haven't seen any high-end tube stuff come out of Cary Audio in quite a while. Same ole stuff in the lineup.

I like Dennis. I met him a few times, the last in '04 or '05 at a DC area Hi-Fi thing while he was still at Cary. I've talked to him on 40 Meters a time or two as well.

Very cool !! I'd love to chat with him too but I don't think our local 2m FM repeater will reach out to North Carolina! My hidden HOA friendly HF antenna is for RX only. ;-(
Right or wrong, I was always under the impression that Dennis loved to tinker and leave most of the business dealings to his partner (who I believe took over the business when Dennis retired).
Back in the day, it was easy to get 30% and more off of new Cary gear and some of that probably had to do with poor management of the dealer network, territories, etc. I might be wrong about that but that was my impression.

Billy Wright, the current CEO, has been with Cary at least since the mid-90s. He traveled the product introduction/PR/sales circuit, along with Dennis Had, in those days.
