Just sold my Croft pre and power in three minutes..... to a guy with bad feedback and who I've had bad experiences with in the past.
Now I'm waiting for Agon to get my ad back up.
PITA. I hope they don't take too long.

I stopped using AudioGon for sales unless all else fails. And this is after more than ten years of selling there. In fact, I am beginning to think ebay may be a better place for sales.
Like I say, unless all of the other sites, including this one, don't work.
Do you use the BUY IT NOW button? I never do. I always want to see who is making offers on my stuff before I decide to sell. If the guy has negative feedback, no feedback, or otherwise raises some concerns, I can decline his offer or just wait for it to expire and move to the next.
like Ebay so you can keep all the deadbeats away. Way too many tire kickers out there!
Just because someone has cash or makes an offer doesn't mean you have to sell to them. If you don't use the "Buy it Now" option, you can set your own conditions such as; must have good feedback, at least one year with Audiogon, no overseas, no money orders, etc.
There is no reason a seller cannot protect themselves, even with the "new" Audiogon.
The only possible benefit I can see to the "Buy it Now" option is to capture folks who decide on the spot they want something before thinking it through. I don't want to sell to them anyway.
BTW. Why selling? I have read the Croft pieces are very nice...
How was the preamp?
It's wonderful stuff but I found a NOS ARC SP-17 recently - factory sealed box from a dealer who had recently closed down his shop and didn't know he had it.
So I did the big upgrade.

So the ARC is clearly superior to the Croft? Also it has a remote, and I believe the Croft does not.
What am I missing here? You knowingly did business with a POS buyer...? Why?
Why would you deal with a known bad buyer?

Well I kind of figured out that it seems there is a "buy now" button on Agon which means you can't reject an offer or refuse the sale at the time of the transaction. I'm almost sure that is the deal.
However it was one of those "read my mind" threads.
As mentioned above, just don't use the "Buy It Now" option when posting your item. This gives you the option of who you sell the item to (after reading their feedback).

I've have some buyers that would make you toss out your audio gear in the trash rather than sell it! One BIG reason my wife made me "kool it" in audio. Some real nut jobs out there. I actually had in my ad "no bidders from California"
I resent that! I'm from California and I assure I NEVER bid on anything I didn't complete.
Which is NOT at ALL saying I don't understand how you could come to that.
Me? I was selling a ROTEL RB1070 power amp on Craigslist. What a mistake with nothing but deadbeats and lowballers. the guy from BACK EAST who offered me 'more than I was asking', but I had to 'ship it right away' on receipt of a POSTAL MONEY ORDER was a real scam. Good Times.
I too have GIVEN stuff away rather than put up with 'people'. My NAD1700 tuner/pre was treated that way and I GAVE AWAY a a TEAC A4010S reel to reel, an Akai R2R and a Sony TC355 R2R.
I kept my Tandberg and the DBX compressor/expander.
Too much is never enough
Still missing the 'old' Audiogon...

It seems to me, the new Audiogon is making sellers have a credit card on file?
Maybe there is more to it? On valuable gear, it is better the eBay.
