With respect to the Cronus phono stage question, my experience is that the built-in phono stage is OK but no more than that. I compared it to my EAR 834p. Unsurprisingly it wasn't even close. The 834 is in a different league. I wouldn't be surprised if the Graham Slee returned a similar result.
The Cronus Magnum with the KT 120 tubes is really, really good.
Follow Ups:
I've had my Cronus Magnum (KT120's) for a little over two years. I found its SS phono stage reasonably good when considering the price, but after about a year I went for an EAR 834P and have never looked back. The 834P is more to the level of the Cronus' amplifier section. Its SS phono stage seems to me to be there so that Rogue can meet a particular price point.
Cheers,
Al
That's 2 votes for an 834P. Thanks!
True about the phono stage being just ok. I happen to have an older Rogue 66 pre with a tubed phono section, itself not that amazing or anything, that when used as a phono pre with the Cronus was a large improvement.
