A friend of mine just gave me his mid 80s VSP Trans Mos MosFet power amp and I'm attempting to find a schematic or any other piece of info on the amp. It's built incredibly well. I'm not sure if it's 200 Watts of 150 Watts. The idea behind getting this amp is for a possible future Electrostatic audio system.
I did a quite a search on Google and came up with some very old postings of VSP owners circa 2003 through 2007 and none of them were having much luck. It reminds me of my search for the joker who owned PSE. I never was able to connect with the fellow for a possible schematic for my Studio II power amp.
Any help would be appreciated.

and damn I'm on Vinyl engine but haven't checked the site recently, Double damn, as now I don't have an excuse for not working on the amp.One Interesting observation in comparing Vinyl Engine schematics to other one posted. In Rev C, on VE, the notes indicate that about 6 diodes were reversed in polarity for the +/- 15 volt power supply. That's a major gaff and might be a good point to start.
But thanks to all.....

All I can tell you is that when my VSP was running, it was one sweet sounding, very powerful amp.

Here is a link to your particular amp.

I had one exactly like that. I still have the manual, which I believe has the schematic. I'm on vacation now, but will be home in a few days and I'll check, if you'd like.
wow.............that would be awesome!! I would appreciate that big time brother. A simple copy would suffice. Whatever way you want to go will be fine.

I am back from vacation and looked in my files. I have a fair amount of literature. There is an owner's manual with one schematic, a revised owner's manual. preliminary literature and even my results when I had it tested at a McIntosh Amplifier Clinic in 1990. I can copy any or all of it.
Kind Sir,
I would greatly appreciate a copy of everything you have on the VSP. I have plans to get the entire amp re-capped and if possible, modified if possible. I have a a world class technician that can do miraculous things if given the opportunity. Lol.....everyone is getting older, I need to get said technician on the project before he retires next year!
I guess we should contact each other. I believe you can get to me with an e-mail provided on my AA page under my moniker.
Thanks Again, Tom B.
Can't seem to find your email address. Mine is oly11@cox.net.
Yours looks to be the first model and was rated at 150 watts. But then I could be wrong.
I have a 200 wattr sitting here too (acrylic faceplate). and also am in search of schematics. IIRC much of the issue was with the servo bias circuit.... But that is not any where I have expertise in.
If you do find anything I would appreciate if you shared the info and I certainly will do the same.
Incidentaly FWIW the address for VSP was idential to the old DCM factory ehich was in Ann Arbor, IIRC.
....pass on any info I can dig up.

I have one too. Can I get in on this? I used it for years. It was a very nice amp. It lost a channel and non of the local shops wanted to touch it. Now I have the capabilities to work on it, but a schematic would make life a whole lot easer.

And found the Power Supply.
And the input.
And the output.
And the mute sensor.
And the schematic. Of course a more specific schematic would still be helpful!
Dave
That's great Dave ....thanks much!!!
I have one too, so it helped me a lot! I really liked that amp when it was running. Smooth and very powerful. I was working in audio when I bought it. I A/Bed it with an Adcom GFA-555. I liked the VSP a lot better in my system, with the exception of the very low bass, but the improvement in bass was not enough to tip the balance, even though I could have bought the Adcom at cost.
