Anyone having problems with QSC customer Service? Long time QSC user, and my QSC PLX 2402 - which i spent $1,000 originally on - finally had the dreaded ribbon cable problem. Serial #039901507. I asked if they would kindly pay. What did they do? Told me I had to pay for shipping both to and from the company, and pay $100 for the service. Does that sound right? I no longer will buy from QSC.

........the whiners toll free hotline?
1-800- WAH...FUCKIN'...WAH
But the point of my post is 15 years is too long to expect something. Especially on a $1,000 piece of gear. Sorry you're just wrong on this one. Honda replaced a known defect after two years for me but wouldn't do it again after 7. Same junky part and same problem. VW extended warranty to 7 years on their known electric window problem. That's good. But 15 ? Come on man!

They've never figured out how to make reliable electric windows in the 35 years or more they've had them available!
My '99 could get a free repair until 2006. Mine failed in 2008 and I replaced it. Still OK.

If it's out of warrantee, exactly what are you expecting? Free service for life.
Pay the money and consider that a cheap fix.

yes or buy the part and do it yourself

Q
I don't think you have much to complain about.
You can simply not expect the manufacturer to pay for shipping and labour for a cheap(ish) amp that is long past its normal service life and well over a decade out of warranty. If they were to do that either QSC would shortly cease to exist or your $1000 amp would have set you back $2-3k in '99.
The difference here is that they consistently have stood by their product and have paid for 100% of the repairs. Then, they just decided one day to stop doing that. Doesn't seem fair.
You bought the amp, you used it. It broke several times out of warranty. Each and every time company repaired it for free and each and every time paid shipping. After 15 years they refused to do so. You complain.
Why does this remind me of a self centered relative of mine who for decades received lot of monetary and other help from me, my wife, parents, relatives and who got angry when one day we refused to give him the money so that he can squander it?

The unit, out of curiosity?
QSC PLX 2402, Serial 039901507. March 1999.
For how long do you expect them to service this issue? 15 years is quite a long time. At this juncture, you're getting close to the end of the service life of the electrolytic caps in the amp itself!
Well, maybe not bad for a fifteen year old mid level product that uses ribbon cables.
Ribbon cables?
From what i understand it is a known problem within a specific production run. (Actually, it's the cable's termination seal, not the cable itself.) QSC used to stand behind their stuff every time. This has changed obviously.
Hopefully an inmate versed in QSC will answer your query. Thank You! for alerting the rest of us. It is important to post both positive & negative experiences when dealing w/ these companies.
Finish reading. There is a lot more to it like 15 yrs
Guess should pay triple with Bryston and get a 20yr warranty.
