i did as you suggested. i was wondering how i could possibly hear anything outa my speakers w/o the pre, but when i stuck my ear close to the speaker i could hear a very low level hiss w/o the clicking sound. i guess i'll just assume it's the pre...thx

If you reverse the leads from the pre to the power amp left out to right in the clicking will move from left to right confirming it is the preamp

i did as you advised and yeah, the clicking shifted to the right channel. i suspect that i'm gonna just have to get another preamp, with audible illusions support becoming the blackhole that it has become.
Is there no one in your area that can look at it for you? They're pretty simple preamps to work on.

good to hear they're easy to work on. i live in the boonies of northern MN, so it's not like i'm in a metropolitan area where repair is more readily available...i guess i'll have to check around some
