I believe it uses the same circuit and the same dual stepped attenuators.
Overall, the sound was good but it was handily beat by other preamps I reviewed at the time and later I replaced it with one of the great preamps (Silvaweld SWC 1000).

Doubtful, but I have a local guy who has some gear to help me adjust the bias when the tubes need replaced. Once some electrolytic caps went bad and I changed them myself with better ones. It is relatively simple as these things go. The sound is world class though...I love it.
Its gone now. I read your preamp reviews, but I balked at buying the 450 'cause I've never heard any Silvaweld products, and I was leery about potential servicing needs. But damn, it was cheap and I do know a good tech.
pity, good stuff and hard to beat for the money.
