My right channel when I turn on the 88s has some static and the midrange seems a bit muddles on my Grand Veenas. Does the static indicate a failing tube? Which tube(s)?. I'm using relatively new Gold Lion KT 88s and have the original small tubes at 2 years old. Average use/day 1.5 hours.
Follow Ups:
Does the problem come and go if you "twinkle" the tube?
Could be a dirty pin socket or a loose solder joint under the tube.
try the pencil test and see if you can replicate the sound on demand.

Without having spare sets on hand, you could swap tubes one at a time, left to right to find the culprit.
Also swap input cables to make sure the problem is not upstream of your Quicksilvers.
I recommend getting another set of the small tubes to have on hand for just this kind of problem.
Good luck
