In Reply to: RE: Integrated Amp 2-ch w/ built-in DAC, sub $2000 USD ? posted by AbeCollins on August 04, 2014 at 13:48:45
At about 1/4 my budget I have a used Peachtree iDecco (discontinued) that puts out about 40wpc. It's surprisingly good for it's intended purpose for the family room TV setup driving a pair of Tannoy Saturn S8LR bookshelf speakers (8-inch concetric drivers).
If used with the soundbar on the fireplace mantle under the TV, I get a big room filling sound throughout the family room and kitchen. I'm not looking for stereo imaging, surround effects, and a 'sweet spot' seating position. It 'fills the room' with robust sound which is what we need.
I'm also using the AppleTV (little black box pictured on top the CableTV box) to stream my CD collection that resides on the Mac Mini in my office to the family room. Not 'high end' but it sure beats a poke in the eye! Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

Just for kicks one day try it as a DAC/Pre with an external power amp. It's a nice Swiss Army knife type of tool.
Good sound, well made, good support.
I'm using their 220 power amp on my Quads and I'm really surprised how good it sounds - particularly the midrange. These amps have come a long way.
