Not sure what is happening with the seller of the DNA1 revised. I have sent 3 emails and no response. We live in the same area so I thought this would be a good opportunity to get a brief demo and be able to avoid shipping. Lotsa dough though although amp upgraded to the nth degree. I would want to be able to negotiate. A lack of communication from a seller is not conducive in creating a positive feeling in order to further pursue. I have watched these McCormacks come up for sale for years now and just now got the hankering to buy one ---the hot weather and not running my class A Pass amp and running something with a bit more musicality than my Trends class D.. Its not bad though considering its running ML's.

Hey Dave,
thanks for that. I had just found your review a couple of days ago when I was scouring the web for info.

Hi Skiroe,
Good luck snagging the DNA-1 Rev A amp. You are always welcome to contact me directly if you have any questions or need any help. Just look-up the SMc Audio website and my contact info is there. Please note that I might miss a reply here so it's better to email or call if you want to catch me.
Cheers!

Hello Steve,
I very much appreciate the invitation and the warm tone of your post. I talked with the other Steve (Clifton) a week ago and had a enjoyable conversation re/McCormack amps when it was your company. I had decided right then and there that I would keep my focus on the pieces of that period. It is not often when the average person is afforded the opportunity to speak one to one with a designer/builder --not just speak but have a conversation that is friendly, casual, low key, and informative. I have run into that with a number of people in the industry---techs like Mark at ASL and another Steve at Decware. I'm not sure I am going to be able to get the opportunity to buy this DNA1 w/gold -- No response from seller. Look forward to speaking with you when the opportunity arises.
Best,

Thanks Skip - much appreciated. Hopefully the seller will reappear and take care of business.

If you are looking for a good amp, check out Parasound. I have a Parasound Halo A21 and I couldn't be happier. It runs only slightly warm and I leave it powered up continuously. It comes in black or silver and it will drive any speaker load with excellent sound quality.
Good luck,
John Elison
A very nice amp, the A21.
Lovin' mine daily.
See ya. Dave
Yep, Ive had one of those. (21) Although the one I had a bad channel and was sent in for repair which easy to just drop off being repair facility near home. I let go back to the seller. I'm focused on getting a DNA 0.5 or a 1. Want to check out what all the fuss is about. My sense is if there is an amp in this price point to give a Pass class A a run for the money it may well be a McCormack--- this I am only speculating on what I have read about them over the years.
Its a damn good amp. Ballsy, but with a dose of warmth/richness lacking in so many ss amps. I'll probably send mine in to Steve for upgrades soon. Its surprising the caps have lasted this long.
I'm not familiar with Pass amps, obviously including the new .8 series. They're a lot more $$$$ than DNA-1's. Dunno, maybe Pass amps are better, but I suspect diminishing returns comes into play.
Oh yea, the Pass is a great amp but it really is too hot to run in the summer when one doesnt have A/C in the house which most don't in the bay area because of the natural A/C at night with our weather. I mean it doesn't get terribly hot, it's just I'm always trying to keep this uninsulated place as cool as I can. I would be curious as to how a DNA 1 or 0.5 A/B's with the Pass. I have a xa30.5. 30 wpc/8ohm 60/4ohms etc. Goes into class A/B operation when the max is exceeded. Thats pretty loud even with a pair of ML Aerius.
Rick, thanks for your input. the DNA 1 with full monty upgrade by Steve is for sale on this site, (lotta bucks though) Someone will probably snag it since Im putting it out there so much.. That is if they can get the seller to respond. He has no posts on this site.. which doesnt necessarily mean anything although it is a bit rude that he will not respond.. Often is the case that mail is going to spam and the person is not checking their spam. That's a given--got to always check the spam. Or, maybe he thinks I'm gonna rip him off being I'm local and want to fall by for a listen. lol. It is the big city after all. sort of --not where he lives. but Im in big bad Oaktown. lol. least I'm havin some fun with this.
