Reviews are appearing, e.g., just recently in Stereophile, but I think the probability of anyone comparing it to a "Pioneer Elite PD 65 with Musical Concepts mod (includes outboard PS)" is small to none.

Certainly I would not expect a dac comparo, but for my enjoyment it should be interesting

Hello everyone,This is my first post on Asylum.Just want to give a small review of the P5 I purchased last week.My reason for buying the P5 was the HT Bypass.I was using a Marantz SR7005 HT receiver and using the preouts with a NAD BEE275.The Marantz and NAD combo were great but I always thought the preout in the Marantz was not allowing the NAD amp to reach it's full potential. This is my living room system. In my mancave I have two NAD BEE275 with NAD BEE165 preamp that's is bi-wired and bridged.Anyway, the P5 has given me the power and sound I was missing using the Marantz HT while im still able to enjoy 5.1 DD,DTS ect with the HT by-pass.But it gets better. The phono MM section is this is superb.I compared it to Clearaudio NANO,Musical Fidelity VLPS with V-PSU upgraded power supply, and Emotiva phono preamp. It easily exceeded the sonics of each of these.Turntable used in testing is Sony TTS-8000,Micro Sieki MA-505S,Clearaudio Maestro. In addition the intergrated DAC using USB exceeded the sonics of a V-DAC and upgraded V-PSU power. To sum it up.I gained more slam and power,a better phono pre, and DAC.Thumbs up 5 stars to the Parasound P5.

"The phono MM section is this is superb."
I've enjoyed the MM phono input in the P7 for a long while now. I wonder if the P5 has the same circuitry or not?
See ya. Dave
Good question Jive.I can say the phono pre is the best I have heard in my Living Room system.Totaly unexpected.Beacuase the external phono stages I compared it to above all easily exceed the built in Phono in my NAD BEE165 located in the mancave.I had low expectations going in.The P5 Phono section is jaw dropping good in my opinion.Wish I could do a side by side with the P7.
This was posted over on AVS a couple of days ago regarding the P5/P7.
"I like the P7 for its Analog section better than the P5 but they are two different animals. It really depends on what features you are using and what type of bass management you might need phono stage etc."
