I'm running some Goldenear Triton 2s on demo and thinking of ordering a set of the new Triton 1s coming out. I am using a Krell s-300i integrated right now and it sounds pretty good. Just wondering if anyone has jumped up in class with Krell and can give me an idea of it's worth. It sounds pretty good but you know we are always looking to improve.
Other options in this basic price range are of interest to me as well. Mark Levinson, Classe etc... To me it seems like the Krell 2250e might be the biggest bang for the buck.
Follow Ups:
I had the Krell KAV-2250 and wasn't very impressed with it. It was grainy and somewhat lean sounding as in no fullness or robustness in the mids. It was lean and analytical sounding to my ears.
I have no idea if the 2250e is related to the older KAV-2250 that I had.
What do you like and dislike about the Krell S-300i? I see a constant stream of these up for sale used on Audiogon all the time which makes me wonder.
I actually like the krell. I see them for sale too. I've had a lot of integrated amps in this range and the 300 is better than the others if not the best to my ear and the build quality shames others . I'm just looking for even better. You know they wouldn't sell more expensive amps if they didn't sound better.
I don't have any experiences with the Krell models that you just mentioned so I can't make any comments on them, however, I did have a lot of experience with their earlier models such as the KSA 150, KSA 250, KSA 300 and the FPB 250m, which IMHO they sounded excellent.
Having said that, the newer Krell EVO 402 power amp mated with the Krell EVO 202 pre amp are in another league altogether than its older siblings, especially if you connect them together via CAST.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well

anyone?
