i've been fighting the battle against mid-range glare for 2 years now. time to get some tubes in my system. after some research (and taking into account my rock-based listening preferences) i'm heading in the direction of coupling an ss odyssey stratos power amp with the tubed audio illisions L1 modulus preamp. i'm none too techy, but i do understand that i have to take into account power amp/preamp impedance matching; and the rule of thumb seems to be the that the input impedance of the power amp should be at least 10X that of the output impedance of the preamp. i'm aware that the input impedance of the odyssey stratos is 22Kohms, but i'm having difficulty in determining the output impedance of the (now discontinued) L1. i'm thinking it's 1.2Kohms, but i'm not sure. anyone?
L1 into amplifier with 22k input impedance should be ok providing your interconnect cable is fairly low capacitance and 1-2 meters in length.
