Does the amp appear to be running hotter during these fade-out times? It appears that your amp is displaying some kinda parasitic oscillation problems. Have you changed any IC's or speaker wires? If so, try using the old ones again and see if the problem goes away. If not, you may need to take the amp into a tech and have it checked out.
Thanks for the reply, but it appears that I was wrong and that it isn't the RB981 that's at fault after all, as the problem has appeared again even though I have swapped in a different power amp. I'll check things further up the chain to isolate the problem component.
