can you tell me where I might buy one from? Thanks,
Hi Max!I sent an e-mail to your hotmail account about this last week. Here is the relevant info before it makes it to the webpage.
There are three possibilities that allow integration of standard line stage preamp functions with the RAKK dac. Any of these MUST BE purchased along what is described as the Active Output Stage and Combo PS on the current RAKK dac web page to get the flexibility that Dave has designed into this package.
RAKK dac input module $199
Line Stage Preamp input module $269
Combined RAKK dac / Line Stage Preamp input modules $369
Hi Kevin
Thanks for the info.
I want to order some other stuff at the same time, so I'll email you for an all up quote.
I didn't get your email for some reason, I'll check my junk folder - possibly hotmail being over-zealous ;-)
Just so I am clear on how these modules fit together, can you confirm:Start with the 'active output stage' at $499
You can couple this to a RAKK DAC using the $199 input module (is this transformer-coupled now?)
You can make it into a linestage using the $269 module
You can make a combo unit using the $369 module, which includes: LL9206s to couple to the DAC, do the IV, gain etc; LL1676s for the line inputs; relays to switch between them; solder pads to wire in a potentiometer. The latter is obviously the bit for me :-)
Lastly, can you confirm that the power supply will also supply an XO-DAC?
Cheers

Hi Kevin,
What are the pro's and con's of using the LL9206 as DAC output? Can they drive a TVC? Just wondering, I have a spare set available.
We've done it with the RAKK dac and it sounds good. Try it with a current output DAC; I think that you will like it. Just make sure that there is no net DC current flowing through the primary, because you will hear no bass.
