Kelvin,Can you tell me the size of the RAKK Active output stage board ? I am thinking to adapt this board to my SACD player which has 1738 current output DAC. Wha is your view ?

Oops! I answered the question that you didn't ask! The active output board is much larger. It is about 5.5" x 6" and the accompanying power supply about 3" x 6". This will also work very well as an output stage and the issue of high output impedance will not then exist.

Alan,
The board is 2.35" x 4.9". Your idea will work, but you will need to use about a 10K I/V resistor at the secondary of the transformers to get 2vRMS at 0dBfs, because the current output is about one third that of the PCM1794. If you can live with lower output, you can use a lower value resistor.
