So then a LL1677/80mA with a 300b or 2A3 might be a better choice? I'll have to give that some carefull consideration. I intend to try the 76-46 and probably 6EM7 with the LL1660/10mA just to see. I don't expect that I'll even get the chance to try anything 'till summer which, in my case, means that this will be a winter project.

No, the LL1677 is a step-up transformer made to provide the high level voltage drive required by the 845. The 211 is a different animal. It needs less drive voltage, but to do A2, requires low drive impedance, hence my step-down suggestion.

I was thinking of using it reversed as a 2:1 stepdown. Perhaps that is not a good choise? In any case I'll be playing with the LL1660/10mA first.
