Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
The new SE parallel feed phono preamp kit is up on the webpage and is available. There is a description there, so I won't waste the space here.I was one of the team of three guys who designed the VAC Renaissance Signature Preamplifier that was recently reviewed very positively by Stereophile (Oct 2002) and I can tell you that you will find the sonic results of this phono preamp kit in the same league as the phono preamp in that unit. However, they bear no resemblance to each other from a design standpoint except for the presence of a Lundahl LL9206 at the input for MC service.
I will also assemble kits for the time- or solder-challenged. :=))

Hey everybody! I am new to this forum and I recently bought and built one of K&K Audio's phono preamp kits. It sounds so good that I can, without hesitation, recommend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive, state of the art phono stage without highend prices. I have never before built anything electronic and so a kit was an appropriate place to start. I was a little scared about building a component myself but Kevin did a great job of making the manual very easy to follow and his pcb layout makes assembly a snap.
I got the chassis from a company in New Jersey called Par-Metal. The series 10 was great because of Kevin's suggestion for magnetic shielding.
I am an experienced listener and have several friends who come to my house to listen to music. Two friends, who are about age 50, came over two days ago to play records and CD's. One of these guys is a volunteer DJ at WXDU, Duke University's student radio station. We played CD's for a while, went on to vinyl records and played records until they went home after midnight. I knew it already, but these two guys kept saying "play that again" and "I never thought records could sound so good". The K&K phono preamp is a fantastically dynamic and transparent design. It's a welcome new newcomer in my system and my feeling is that it will stay for for a very long time. Thank you Kevin Carter for a great kit that will please a lot of seasoned audiophiles.
