I haven't tried Sorbothane footers myself, but most of what I read about their performance isn't good. Basically, better than nothing but inferior to most alternatives based on others' experiences that I've read about. General consensus is that Sorbothane deadens transients both leading edge and decay. In bright, harsh systems that might provide some "relief", as a band-aid, but in a better sounding system you would be losing detail and transparency that you want.
My situation is similar as I try to decide what to replace stock feet with on my Technics SH-10B3 base for my SP10mk2. This weekend a friend will bring over his Stillpoints for a demo. Those and other steel or ceramic bearing type solutions are the way I am leaning at the moment, although some are awfully pricey. I tried my Symposium Rollerblock 2s which are excellent with my preamp and phono stage, and they didn't do much for the turntable, which surprised and disappointed a bit.
