Finally settled on a pair of full range speakers. I have woned some Cabasse in teh past, and a pair of Aeltier Audio First Horns. Those BLH with 5 1/4 Fostex were nice, but still had bass extension issues.

I decided to order these Audio Nirvana 12 inch full range drivers after hearing a smaller pair of 8 inch ones. Had a local cabinet maker build the cabinets. Installed 1.5 inches of dacron dampening on the back wall and 1 inch on the sides and top/bottom. Wired it up with Audio Magic silver ribbon wire.

It took alot of fiddling to get them to perform well. I had several variations of dampening and wire to try. But now I am quite satisfied at what I hear. They are efficient, supposedly 99db. Bass extends into the mid 30's, although I have not personally plotted it yet. From what I hear in my listening room, it is a believable statement. More important than bass extension, the quality of the bass is excellent. Wonderful detail and texture.

The rest of it sounds great to. Soundstages well, good tonal balance. All in all, a keeper. Drivers sell for $198 a pair, and since the cabinets are simple, it is a inexpensive way to get high quality SET friendly speakers.

p.s. don't mind the sand paper in the picture, and the derelict Squeezebox. Also the subwoofer is not being used, but is just a temporary resting place for the pre-amp. My next purchase is a rack capable of handling the full system. I moved my amps to the rck which necessitated the temporary stacking of the digital pieces, and the eviction of the pre-amp
