What I'm running now wasn't really available during the journey.
I've found 2 cheap new Pro amps that work fine and use one for TV system and one for audio system (Yamaha P5000S and Crown XLS 215)and neither make any fan noise at any volumes I've used. I run a Benchmark DAC-1 direct to power amp via balanced connections into some big PA speakers that were also cheap (Peavey PV 215). This system will rock and prefer it to the various compressed audiophile systems I have used over the years.
Since this is a hobby I don't regret spending money on previous purchases.
