Universal Music Germany announced today that chairman and CEO, Tim Renner, will be leaving the company by the end of this month. According to the press release, the main reason for Renner's move were differing opinions about Universal's policy regarding local/national artists.

Renner has, at several occasions, proclaimed his preference of the SACD over the competing DVD-Audio format. This is probably the main reason while Universal's DVD-Audio releases are still officially unavailable in Germany. It will be interesting to see if the company's policy will change after Renner's leave.
