for the TVC
My main comments are in relation to my existing Audio Research LS7 hybrid valve preamp, which costs several times more than this TVC.The TVC is clean, clear and detailed - I found it very natural sounding, with a realistic soundstage. No glare in the treble whatsoever, and bass was well-controlled. No apparent loss in dynamics.
In contrast, the LS7 adds a bloom or extra weight to the sound, which some might find pleasant. To my ears, the valve preamp is doing something to the signal, whereas I get the feeling that the TVC lets the music through without any sonic manipulation, and in an unforced manner.
The valve preamp also contributes to a slight hardening of the sound, with some glare in the treble.Fit and finish are exemplary - even the wife approved of the wooden design!
Conclusion: Very highly recommended. Can sonically compete with preamps from high-end manufacturers.
Product Weakness: Not euphonic; doesn't add bloom to the sound - some owners may prefer their music in a different, less neutral flavour. Product Strengths: Very pure, musical detailed sound.
