Have you heard anything about the RPM 1? The RPM 2 is discontinued. BTW, Alan Perkins is modifying the counterweight on the RPM tonearm to allow for heavier cartridges. Also, the controller for the upgrade package is going to be improved.
Finally, I saw the prototype for the Audio Physic Phono stage, which has an auto-gain feature that adjusts on the fly for cartridge output. It also has a rechargable battery. The unit switches itself to DC when signal is detected from the cartridge. The phono stage is being revised right now as the original prototype was noisy and switched "off" too quickly. Price is estimated to be approx. 3K.
