I'll first get right to the question...

If one uses an asynchronous USB DAC, how important is the PC to sound quality? Can one "skimp" a little instead of going to a full-on CMP type machine?

In my situation, I use a Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 with an HTPC that I built about a year ago for movies and high-resolution audio. The machine uses an AMD Athlon II dual core on an Asus motherboard with the integrated HD4200 graphics, several hard drives, all powered by an OCZ 550W power supply. Is this "good enough" for use with the DAC2, or should I invest in a standalone audio PC?
