pj,
i was under the impression that the newer grados had the nicer earpads. the first improvement i knew of was to buy sennheiser earpad replacements intended for hd414 'phones (cant get into calling them 'cans').
i have the 60s, ------nice. my yellow sennheiser pads are soooooo pretty! anyway, they are exceedingly comfy, as much so as the larger phones made by senn back when orig 414s were avail. cant remember the model (?424s?), even tho i had a pair.
as for the cord, grado makes a hi grade extension cable for not a lot of money.
thanx for the review, its always good to see how someone veiws similar products.
