I had a choice between 2 'lesser' subs and a better, single.
My room? 8 sides and an asymmetric off center vaulted ceiling. The sub is on a medium length wall away from a corner. Bass fill is quite good at all normal listening positions. Though, it is true that in the original location, the den where I now sit was acting as a helmholtz resonator and had a bad 'boom' to it.
You may feel that 'stereo' subs are the way to go and so beit. However, music is pretty much mono below say......80hz and proper setup and integration of a sub mitagates the need for multiples.
And yes, I've read the Harmann White Paper on number of subs and locations thereof.
The place I bought the sub even advocated placing the sub near.....as in end table, perhaps, to the listening position. Their demo room? One of the most awful demo places I ever sat. Crowded, fairly narrow / long wih mediocre equipment.
And yes, indeed, too much is never enough, but I've got a spouse to keep from going to war with over this alledged hobby, some room decor considerations and the fact that running my panels fullrange with the sub crossed over fair low and 'phase correct' is pretty darn musical. Organ music is full and rich while bass guitar has plenty of feel and kettle drums have a good whack.
Naw < I'll stick with a single sub until I can afford a LARGE HT room and an All-Maggie HT with Pass amps and the rest. Than, I'll have multiples, you better believe it!
