Nice review. I am bi-amping my MG-IIIa's with a Marchand XM-44. I set the low pass filter to 3rd order at 300 Hz (same as the manual) and the high pass filter to 4th order at 400 Hz (manual states 2nd order at 500 Hz). I found that there was a suck out around the xover point (375 Hz) and, like yourself, I fixed it by reversing the polarity of the speaker cables to the mid-treble. I believe the bass and mid-treble on the IIIa's are actually wired out-of-phase which works for the orginal xover values but the phase shift in going from a 2nd order high pass to the 4th order high pass messed things up.

In any case, bi-amping Maggies is the way to go and I would recommend anyone who is contemplating the upgrade of the external crossover to consider a Marchand unit and two amps.
