The MG1.6's were just the speaker that were formerly my reference. Though I tweaked them well beyond stock over time with Grant Mye stands, all Jensen external XO, Zobels, Rollerblocks with tungsten carbide bearings, Cardas binding posts, etc - adding almost the speaker cost in parts.

The MG1.6 is a very good speaker. And a great speaker modded. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the cost of the MG1.6 would have been if commercially packaged as such. Easily close to the MG3.6 in cost (if not impractically more - and the reason it isn't offered as such)!

So it's perhaps not all that unreasonable a comparison as a speaker upgrade - at little more than double the cost.
