RE: Resistor Directionality

Posted by Jon Risch on July 2, 2012 at 13:48:00:

From your concerns, I think that you are asking whether or not when installing a resistor, does it's orientation matter like an electrolytic capcitor, or a diode or an LED. The answer to that question is no, it does not have a failure mode concerning it's orientation.

However, many feel that even parts that are not directional in terms of a failure mode, do _sound_ better when oriented one way versus another way.
This is going to be a much more subtle thing, as the circuits will work, and might even work OK or even well, but might work slightly better with a different orientation.

If you are happy with the sound of you Mods, then I wouldn't worry about this latter aspect of parts directionality, and just enjoy your tunes.
