Choose: 300b SET or 2a3 PP?

Posted by andy evans on May 19, 2012 at 06:26:27:

Which would you choose for about 8 watts? 300b SET or 2a3 push-pull?

300B SET
For: great mids
Against: bass can be woolly, tubes expensive, can loose grip on complex passages, needs a very good OPT

2a3 PP
For: good bass, good mids, crisp highs, tubes cheaper, can use 6B4G/6C4C with mods, OPT design easier
Against: not quite the mids of 300b but very close, more components
