Dear cellbeam,

I have built several pairs of diy speakers, and am currently building another pair .
i have even gone as far as exhibiting 3 of my designs at hifi shows in the uk 1991 and 1992 chesterfield hi fi shows.
received very positive comments on the sound quality if not on the cosmetics. the cosmetics will kill you every time. but sound quality wise they have imho been excellent.
check out july editions 1992 of hi fi news and record review and hifi world review of chesterfield hi fi show.Daverine acoustics was the name i came up for them.2 pairs were transmission lines and one pair a micro monitor using bandor 2" full range drive units.
a friend of mine has built wilson audio grand slam copies with superb results.
the design i am currently building have 2 off focal 8" bass in vented cab, with focal 5" mid in open baffle and focal kevlar tweeter. x over 350hz and 3.5khz.what will they sound like ????????good question!!!!!
i will let you know via the asylum. completion about 2 weeks away.

for those of you who have thought about it, build a simple kit to get the rough idea then do a bit of reading get a suitable software program and some drive unit specs and take the plunge...
it is fun even if the results dont make the grade.

regards david
