Re: Soliloquy 5.3 vs Monitor Audio Silver 9i. Which one....

Posted by brubacca on April 3, 2001 at 16:25:05:

Hey indy,

Just got my Soliloquy 5.0s bookshelves. I would have to say that the finish is as good as the Contour line from Dynaudio. That is to say the finish amazing.

I have seen the Monitor Audio speakers and they look real nice also although I would have to give the edge to the Sols.

As far as sound goes they are 2 different animals. Metal dome vs soft dome. Personally I like the sound of a soft dome tweeter better. My bookshelves are still breaking in, but initially I love the sound.

The bass is nice and full. Makes me realize that my mission 773 had no bass and my paradigms had a bloated bass.

From my memory I like the monitor audio speakers better than my paradigms, but I think that the soliloquy soeakers blow them away.

Hope that this is helpful.

Charlie
