Sorry to point this out but I actually referenced your post on another forum and they called me on it - so now I am coming back to you

You say two opposing things:

1) I have NEVER come across an engineer who buys his monitors for reasons other than their sound quality...

But you then state that

2) As far as I know B&W is paying Abbey Road for as long as they use their speakers.

Which means that these engineers did NOT buy their monitors for sound quality reasons - they use them because they're making a buck! And if that is so - who knows who else does the same thing.

And that is assuming you can establish number 2 is a fact
