So... Not clear what you're saying.
There are 2 obvious test scenarios here, computer speed "slow" vs. "fast" and WAV vs. FLAC/ALAC. Given any one computer - take the faster Mac Pro, are you saying that most of the 50 people could determine difference between WAV and FLAC? What percentage accuracy?
If this is true, why aren't the objectivist obsessed folks on Hydrogen Audio raising hell?
Personally, I can't tell a difference between between FLAC and WAV. Decoding a FLAC file takes barely any CPU power, can be tagged, allows for lots of compression especially classical pieces, which helps speed up backups; essential for big music libraries.
Here's another one: do you think there's a difference between FLAC leve 1 vs. level 8 compression? Does the noise floor proportionately increase?
