Re: Banana Connector--If You Use Stranded Cables, Cut Off the Spades at the Speaker Ends

Posted by ME on June 12, 2000 at 18:26:24:

Initially, I used small Michell Rodium Plated Banana Plugs to hook my spade terminated speaker cables to my 1.6s. They worked ok and sounded pretty good.

However, I'm a wirenut/cable junkie, and I kept wondering if the speakers would sound any better if I cut-off the spade lugs at the speaker end and used the bare wire ends for the speaker connection, so I tried it. The result, at least to my ears, worth it.

If you're using stranded cables, suggest you try connecting both ways. Bet you'll like the bare wire better. (For some reason, I get the feeling that Magnapan is encouraging us to use bare wire to connect to their speakers.)
