I'm confused by his statement. Surely he's familiar with the old Altec, University, etc., AlNiCo designs, where magnet material comprised the pole piece. The return circuit was made of 'Armco' iron. 22,000-24,000 Gauss was the norm. I assume Lowther still uses this technology, which would help explain their high cost.
