Krell vs SimAudio

Posted by TR-986 on May 6, 2001 at 13:52:21:

I am planning to purchase an integrated amp and need advice about the Krell 300i vs Moon I5. After listening to each at different dealers, I was favorably impressed by both. I listen mostly to rock/blues at reasonable SPL in my smallish (15x14x9) living room, however I like to crank it up once in a while. I will run the amp with CDM1SEs for now and plan to upgrade my CD and cabling shortlly also. My initial impressions were: Moon - Open, detailed, great imaging, but may run out of gas at higher levels, Krell - Clean and powerful with great tight bass, but maybe less detail and imaging at lower listening levels which I would normally operate the unit. Let me know what your opinion is of these units along with any other that you think I should be considering. Thanks.
