Re: What's yer recipe for the roller blocks?

Posted by Gary on May 21, 2003 at 00:22:14:

Hi,
Not much to them so I'll describe them from top to bottom. I made the top from a piece of 7075 T-6 aluminium with a hole bored thru the middle. In the hole I put a hardened steel liner (thinking it was 1/2" I.D.). The outside was an 1 1/4" and about 5/8th tall. The bottom half was similar, but larger in diameter at 1 3/4". These two blocks are seperated with a hardened ball bearing (3/4" if I remember correctly). I have not, but do plan on trying an o ring under the bottom puck. Have no idea if a larger ball, or smaller liner would have made a difference in the sound. All I know is that it threw it so far forward that we had to actually change our listening position.
