I own an Oppo BDP-95 and a Sony XA5400ES. Balanced stereo is similar, both excellent if just a bit different. HDMI is similar. But the BDP-95 plays a wider array of discs, including DVD and Blu-ray with superb video. It also offers 7.1 analog, along with processing that handles bass management and lossless codecs so you can use the bypass mode of your processor. (That's important to me, because my Cary Cinema 11a treats 88.2 kHz LPCM as DSD and provides no bass management for SACDs.)
