RE: Question about power cords/two-prong IEC inlet

Posted by Duster on June 18, 2012 at 06:40:28:

Hi JB Coleman,

As you know, the VH Audio Audio AirSine is a very advanced design. One aspect is that the externally spiraled ground wire of the power cord is effectively isolated from the current carrying conductors, so I reckon any effect if any (no effect, IMO) would be well below the system noise floor. No worries ;-D

You might want to upgrade the stock IEC inlet of the Marantz SA-11S2 with an Oyaide Power Inlet R (platinum + palladium plated phosphor bronze contacts) IEC inlet to mate with the Oyaide C-004 IEC connector of your AirSine. Since the SACD/CD player is not grounded, just ignore the ground pin of the upgraded IEC inlet. In practice, having a ground pin might help better secure the IEC connector within the IEC inlet, so there's only good things to gain by the upgrade. BTW, a DIY project has also been documented for the Marantz SA-11S2.

See link below for easy IEC inlet modification instructions for the Marantz SA-11S2:
