BTW, PSU upgrade...

Posted by Duster on June 16, 2012 at 13:16:50:

BTW, I upgraded the stock switching power supply of the Ambery AUMP-2PA Digital Optical Audio Splitter (2-way, 1-in 2-out, non-passive, non-attenuating, S/PDIF Toslink splitter) with a Condor DV-51AAT 5VDC 1A linear regulated power supply, with the molded AC plug of the captive power cord snipped-off and re-terminated with a Furutech FI-11M(Cu) copper AC plug. Power cord then plugged into a Tripp Lite LC1200 Line Conditioner along with my iMac computer. The Condor linear PSU while nothing too special sounds far better than the stock switching PSU, as well as if the optical splitter is powered via a USB port from my iMac. I can't fathom why folks would choose to power any audiophile device via a computer USB port.
