Huge improvement from budget power cables....

Posted by samoore on January 7, 2012 at 10:02:20:

As suggested here, I replaced all of my stock power cords with entry level Shunyata power cords, and the improvement in the sound of my system is nothing short of astonishing. I have messed around with aftermarket PCs before, and did hear a modest effect, but never had I replaced all the stock PCs in my system at once. So, on the recommendation of the fine fellows at Pro Musica in Chicago, I purchased a Cable Pro Integrity 8 outlet Power Strip. This allowed me to remove the old Monster Cable power stip I was using in my system. Then I purchased a used Shunyata Diomondback PC for the connection from the wall to the power stip and three Shunyata Venom 3 PCs for connecting my tube amp, DAC and SB Touch to the power stip. The improvement in sound was immediately noticed! I can't believe how much smoother the system sounds, with much less "background" noise. It is smoother and more transparent! The improved transparency has also allowed more micro-dynamics to come through.

The skeptic in me says that power cables shouldn't make this much difference, but the results can't be argued with. For around $700 my system has taken a huge step forward.

Thanks to all for the recommendations!

Steve
