RE: DIY Turntable kits

I'm not aware of any kits, but here's my approach to DIY, which I posted in further detail to this forum about eight months ago.

I started with a used Marantz 6170 direct drive. Cost: five bucks at a yard sale. The tonearm had issues so I stripped out the platter/motor, built a large wooden plinth and DIY 12" unipivot tonearm.

The results? Excellent sound quality, which I attribute to the accuracy & performance of the direct drive motor and the unipivot tonearm. Overall a fun project and the total expense out of pocket was miniscule.
