RE: VPI HW19 question

Not sure what Platter this is you have? A genuine MK-IV Platter should have three Adjusting Pins-Screws at the center periphery of the Spindle Hole. How much does this Platter weigh?

Without the requisite Bearing, and Bearing Well, this Platter is then made useless. You can contact VPI, perhaps even shoot them some pics, showing what you have, and ask if they can help you?

It may be a dead end road, but it's certainly worth a try.

As for the VPI Jr Platter, and Bearing. This Platter Bearing, and all other VPI conventional design bearings other than the newer inverted Bearings are supposed to use an Oil, not a Grease.

Yes, there is only supposed to be one bearing ball (.250") on the end of the bearing shaft. This Ball contacts a tungsten carbide thrust wear plate that is attached to the Brass bearing plug at the bottom of the bearing well.

Clean out the entire bearin well, and bearing shaft of old lubes, long q-tips can be used for this, and use an oil such as Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil. Just very lightly coat the bearing shaft, add about 2-3 drops of oil down into the bearing well, and re-assemble bearing. Mark
